Accel’s $200M Series A in Lovable: Enabling the Last 99%

We are pleased to announce that Accel has led the Series A in Lovable, the AI platform that enables non-technical builders to create full-stack software applications through text. This funding round follows a sustained period of unprecedented growth by Lovable, and is among the largest Series A financings ever raised in Europe. We are grateful to be joined by exceptional founders and entrepreneurs in this round, including: Canva’s Melissa Tan, Clay’s Varun Anand, CrowdStrike’s George Kurtz, Datadog’s Olivier Pomel, ElevenLab’s Mati Staniszewski, HubSpot’s Dharmesh Shah, Klarna’s Sebastian Siemiatkowski, Remote’s Job van der Voort, Slack’s Stewart Butterfield, Snowflake’s Denise Persson, Supabase’s Paul Copplestone, Synthesia’s Victor Riparbelli and Steffen Tjerrild, Webflow’s Linda Tong, Revolut’s Nik Storonsky via QuantumLight Capital, and Supercell’s Ilkka Paananen and Zalando’s Robert Gentz via European Tech Collective.
Software has fundamentally reshaped virtually every aspect of our lives both inside and outside the workplace. Yet software development remains a specialized skill set, accessible to less than 1% of the global population. With Lovable, skills are no longer the bottleneck to ideas. We believe Lovable enables the other 99% of the world to create the tools they have always wanted, triggering a seismic shift in how software is conceived.
Since its public launch in late November 2024, Lovable has attracted over 2.3 million active users. To look at what’s been built with Lovable is to catch a glimpse of our collective imagination unbounded: meal and childcare planners, weather apps that tell you how many layers to wear (or pack), career milestone trackers, old family photos transformed into videos, and team meetings turned into games. For others, Lovable’s dramatically accelerated the pace of innovation: entrepreneurs use Lovable to launch new businesses, marketers automate away brief development, and product teams condense prototype cycles from weeks to hours.
Using Lovable feels magical. Users describe an idea for a product and immediately receive implemented results, including a functioning backend and native integrations. At Accel, Lovable-created tools have quickly become an integral part of our global investment, marketing, and operations teams' daily work.

Lovable’s remarkable growth is a testament to the taste and product intuition of its cofounders, Anton Osika and Fabian Hedin. Over the last six months, our teams took more than 10 trips to our respective countries. We’ve developed a deep admiration for their intense executional focus, ability to attract world-class talent, and genuine commitment to building a vibrant user community. We believe these characteristics will allow the company to continue defining this fast-emerging category and become the native operating system for software creation in this next era.

At Accel, we have deep conviction about how AI is re-shaping software development and empowering a new generation of AI builders. We’ve partnered with the leading companies tackling the question of how we build now, including Cursor, Vercel, Supabase, Polar, Linear, Nebius, Scale AI, and more. With its focus on enabling non-technical creators to build products, Lovable forms the next step of this thesis and opens up an entirely new software market: the other 99%.
Lovable’s vision to build the last piece of software is audacious, but we couldn’t imagine a better team to pursue it. We’re grateful to Anton and Fabian for trusting Accel as a partner for their next phases of growth. We look forward to the remarkably ambitious journey ahead.
