Matt joined in 2013 and focuses on enterprise software, consumer internet, and security businesses. Prior to Accel, he worked with William Blair’s technology investment banking group. Matt is from Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Miami University.
Get to know Matt
What was your first job?
My first job was working as a snowboard instructor at my local ski resort. I grew up in Ohio, so picture rolling hills, not steep peaks. I took "do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life" to heart...and I got a free lift ticket in the process.
If you could master any skill instantly?
Languages. Growing up in the middle of America, I did not prioritize foreign language learning. Today, at Accel we invest across dozens of countries and that list is only becoming more diverse. We believe great entrepreneurship can be found well outside of the valley and we spend a lot of time building relationships far from home. I wish 15 year old me had paid a bit more attention in French class.
