What was your first job?
I was a busgirl at a family-owned Italian restaurant in my hometown for three years during high school and college. Pros: free garlic bread, elite time management skills, and a crash course in handling what felt like every personality under the sun. Cons: the lingering smell of garlic bread.
What’s the most impactful piece of advice you‚ you’ve received?
When life throws you a curveball, you get 24 hours to think, “What does this mean for me?” But once that time is up, you have to adjust your mindset and start thinking, “What is the opportunity?” For ‘big picture’ advice, this has always stuck with me because it’s so directly actionable. Give yourself a day — take a beat to acknowledge that things didn’t go the way you hoped or expected. Then figure out how to play the cards you’ve been dealt.
What’s your all-time favorite movie, TV show, OR book?
Has to be the original Law & Order. The OG series ran for 21 years, and every single one of the 496 episodes follows one of just three plots (I should know, I’ve seen them all).
