Today, Twilio announced that it would acquire Segment, the leading customer data platform. Segment let us lead their Series A almost 6 years ago. The cliche that it's bittersweet is all too true — Peter, Calvin, Ilya and team Segment, you've done more for our firm and our LPs than you can imagine. We owe a huge thank you to everyone involved.

Company building is all about people. I'm so proud of the amazing people we brought in, who grew fast and took on work that far exceeded their experience. Amazing things happen when you find high-slope individuals and wrap them in a high-trust environment. I'm just as proud of the teammates who struck out on their own, or were recruited away to other terrific companies. Though I always winced when we lost someone great, you know you got it right when your people are at the top of others' lists. I can't wait to see what everyone does in the years to come.

Yesterday evening was our final board meeting. Our first was in a tiny courtyard in SF, five of us munching on bagels and orange juice, figuring out who our ninth hire would be. So much has happened along the way. Through it all there was a commitment to solve problems with integrity, to show up each day as the best versions of ourselves, and to do it together.

Segment will always be part of the Accel family. Cheers to this incredible outcome and to all the work ahead. We'll be rooting for you.
